Inner Mongolia University, located in Hohhot, is a university jointly built by the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It is a world-class discipline construction university, a key construction university of the "211 Project", a supporting university for the construction of a first-class university in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and a national key construction university of "one province, one university" in the central and western regions. Founded in 1957, the university is a comprehensive university, which began to enroll graduate students in 1962; In 1978, it was identified as a national key university; In 1997, it became a key university of the "211 Project"; In 2004, it became a joint university of the People's Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the Ministry of Education; In 2012, it was selected as a project to improve the comprehensive strength of western universities; In 2016, it was identified by the State Council as the "one province, one university" national key construction university in central and western China; In 2017, it was selected as a national world-class discipline construction university; In 2018, it will become a university jointly built by the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
