Traffic engineering is the basic theory for the research and development of traffic engineering discipline. It is a relatively young discipline derived from road engineering. It integrates several aspects related to traffic, such as people, vehicles, roads, environment and energy, into the road traffic, in order to seek the maximum road capacity, the least traffic accidents, the fastest operating speed, and the least transportation costs The transportation system planning, construction and management scheme with the least environmental impact and the lowest energy consumption, so as to achieve the goal of safety, speed, economy, convenience, comfort, energy conservation and low pollution.
