About this program
BA (Hons) History at University of Greenwich is a 3‑year full‑time undergraduate degree (also available as a 4‑year “sandwich” course with a placement year, or part‑time over 6 years) taught at the historic Greenwich Campus. The program covers roughly 500 years of British, European, and global history, from early modern periods through to the 20th century. You’ll study a broad mix of themes, such as migration, gender, violence, national identities, environmental history and social change, giving both breadth and depth to your understanding of how past events shaped the modern world. The course emphasizes not only historical knowledge, but also critical thinking, analytical skills, and effective communication. You’ll learn historical methods and historiography, interpret primary sources, engage with archives/museums (especially given the London‑area location), and develop research and writing skills useful in many fields. There are also optional modules and opportunities: you can pair history with other subjects (like politics, languages, or social sciences), and there is an option for a sandwich/placement year, helpful for work‑experience, heritage work, internships in cultural or
