Nanjing University of Science and Technology (NJUST), established in 1953 (with roots in a military-engineering institute), is a public, multidisciplinary university located in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. It is affiliated with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (co-sponsored with the Ministry of Education and Jiangsu provincial government) and is part of national higher-education initiatives including Project 211 and the Double First-Class construction. NJUST comprises roughly 20 schools/colleges, covering academic fields from science and engineering to management, economics, liberal arts, law, and education, offering a broad curriculum across disciplines. As of the latest data, the university has around 2,078 faculty members and a student body of about 28,000, including undergraduates, master’s, and doctoral students. While NJUST maintains strong foundations in engineering and technology, particularly mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, electronic and computer engineering, its expanded academic scope and modernized programs reflect a shift toward a comprehensive university that combines technical, scientific, managerial, and humanistic disciplines.
