Shanghai Electric Power University (SEPU) is a full-time general institution of higher learning co founded by the central government and Shanghai Municipality and mainly managed by Shanghai Municipality. The school was founded in 1951, and has been under the management of the national power department for a long time. In 2000, it was under local management. After the development and evolution of Shanghai Electric Power School, Shanghai Power School, Shanghai Electric Power School, Shanghai Electric Power College, and Shanghai Electric Power College, the school started to run at the undergraduate level in 1985, started to run at the master level in 2006, and became a doctoral degree awarding unit in 2018, forming a complete degree authorization system of bachelor, master, and doctor. In 2018, it was renamed as Shanghai Electric Power University with the approval of the Ministry of Education. The school has two campuses, Yangpu and Pudong.
