About the university
Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) is the earliest commercial university in the history of higher education in China, which has a history of more than 100 years since it was founded in Nanjing Normal University in 1917. In 1985, the university was renamed as Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. In 1996, it entered the ranks of the national "211 Project". In 2005, it was selected as a university to build the "985 Project Superior Discipline Innovation Platform". In 2012, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government signed a contract to jointly build Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. In 2017, it was selected as one of the first batch of "double first-class" construction universities. At present, we are embarking on a new journey to build a world-class university with distinctive financial characteristics.
