Hunan Normal University (HNU), located in Changsha, Hunan Province, traces its origins to the National Normal College founded in 1938, making it one of the earliest independent teacher-training institutions in China. Following the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the college was merged into Hunan University. During the nationwide adjustment of higher education in 1952–1953, Hunan University was dissolved, and Hunan Normal College was established on its foundation. In 1984, the institution was officially renamed Hunan Normal University. Today, HNU is a “Double First-Class” construction university, jointly supported by the Ministry of Education and Hunan Province, and is recognized for excellence in teacher education, humanities, sciences, and social sciences. The university offers a wide range of undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs, and plays an important role in cultivating high-quality talent and conducting research that serves both Hunan Province and the nation.
