Dalian Maritime University (DMU), located in Dalian, Liaoning Province, is a public university directly under the Ministry of Transport of China. It is a national key university, part of Project 211, and included in the Double First-Class initiative, with Transport Engineering recognized as a world-class discipline. Known as the “cradle of navigators,” DMU traces its origins to 1909 and was officially named Dalian Maritime University in 1994 after several mergers of regional maritime institutions. The university offers a broad range of programs across disciplines such as engineering, economics, law, management, and the sciences, with undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs, as well as post-doctoral research stations. DMU is internationally recognized by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and hosts global maritime training programs, making it one of the most prestigious maritime universities in China. It also maintains strong research capabilities in areas including ship engineering, maritime communication, marine environmental protection, and maritime law.
