Liaoning University (LNU), located in Shenyang, China, is a comprehensive public university co-funded by the Liaoning Provincial Government and China’s Ministry of Education. It traces its origins to a business college established by the Northeast People’s Government in November 1948. In 1953, the Northeast Business College merged into the Northeast College of Finance and Economics, and in 1958, several institutions: including departments from Shenyang Normal College and the Shenyang Russian Language School, combined to form what is now Liaoning University, whose name was inscribed by Marshal Zhu De. LNU is a national key university under Project 211 and is recognized as a Double First-Class university, with Applied Economics as its world-class discipline. The university has three campuses, approximately 35,234 students, including 509 international students, and a faculty of around 2,655 staff members, of whom 1,748 are teaching and research staff. It offers a wide range of programs across disciplines such as economics, law, literature, science, engineering, management, and the arts, with 65 undergraduate majors, 32 first-level master’s disciplines, 13 first-level doctoral disciplines, and eight post-doctoral research stations. LNU is also a national demonstration university for innovation and entrepreneurship education reform, hosts a National Outstanding Legal Talent Training Base, and maintains research centers aligned with national and Belt-and-Road initiatives. Its library holds approximately 3.74 million volumes, including rare collections, supporting its mission as a leading institution in education, research, and international exchange.
