Nanchang University (NCU) is a public, comprehensive university located in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, China. It is part of China’s Double First-Class initiative, specifically designated for world-class disciplines. The university is jointly constructed by the Ministry of Education and the People’s Government of Jiangxi Province, and it is also a Project 211 institution. NCU has multiple campuses (including Qianhu, Qingshanhu, Donghu), and offers a wide range of undergraduate programs. According to ShanghaiRanking, it has 39 national-level first-class undergraduate specialties, 39 provincial-level first-class specialties, and 30 national first-class courses. Historically, NCU’s origins trace back to several institutions, including Jiangxi Public Medical School (founded in 1921), the National Chung-Cheng University (1940), and Jiangxi Polytechnic (1958). In 1993, Jiangxi University and Jiangxi Industrial University merged to form Nanchang University, and later in 2005 it merged with Jiangxi Medical College. The university emphasizes talent cultivation, education quality, and teaching, aligning with its role in provincial and national higher-education plans.
